Every Christmas, so goes the legend, an "angel returns to listen to the carols which are to him the continuing echoes of His message." A friendly young man, passing through a country village one snowy Christmas eve, pauses to listen to the singing of its carolers. The stranger (played by Richard Chamberlain) is joined by a young boy with whom he shares the folklore behind the Christmas carols, as the two stroll together.
The Christmas Messenger, part live-action, part animation, delivers a beautiful message of the original and charming Oscar Wilde story in which the stranger is gradually and eventually recognized as a manifestation of the Christmas angel.
